Concept:
My main feature model for my magazine will be wearing skinny jeans and a fitted
black t-shirt. The reason for her dark clothes, is so that it stands out
against the white back-drop. She will also be wearing red lipstick to contrast
against her dark clothing. For the front cover picture, the model will simply
be looking straight into the camera and the angle will be a medium close up. A
couple of random poses will be taken to use for the contents page; and the
double page spread will consist of: the model standing in the middle of the
text for the article, and another picture of her looking towards the text. My
other models pictures will be taken on location so that there is a variety of
backgrounds, as opposed to them all having a plain, white background. As the
magazine genre is Hip Hop, all the models will be wearing clothes that are
somewhat associated with that type of music.

Photography Notes.
Camera: Nikon D7000
Lights: Trinity flash- the use of the soft boxes on the lights, softens the brightness which means it's not unbearably bright for the model standing in front of it.
6 is the highest brightness and 1 is the lowest.
The remote on top of the Nikon D7000 is called a Godox and the receiver for the remote is on the main trinity flash light. "A" on the camera, stands for 'Aperture priority' and the "S" stands for 'Shutter priority.'
'Depth of field'- is when the foreground and background are both in focus on the camera.
'Shallow depth of field'- is when only is the foreground is focused and the background is not.
'A'- stands for auto on the dials and 'M' stands for manual.
Don't stand too close to the backdrop, stand at least 5-6 feet from it otherwise you'll be able to see the shadow in the picture.

Distribution Of Magazines.
Publishers: Publishers are the establishment which produce the magazine(s). In the United Kingdown, there are four main organisations; these four are: EMAP Bauer, Natmag, Conde Nast and IPC. The publishers main roles are to control the design/ layout of the magazine, the editorial content and manage relationships with the advertisers. It is important for the publishers to manage the relationships with the advertisers because they get a lot of revenue from the advertisers who pay an enormous amount of money, simply for an advertisement in a magazine.
I researched EMAP Bauer and found it that is a content, subscription and networking business.
Distribution networks: Each
publisher uses a network of distributors, who manage the flow of magazines from
the printer to the final newsstand, where the magazine is sold. Magazines are taken in lorries to regional
distributors, who then move these on to the shop / newsstand . The focus where magazines are sold are in supermarkets and newsstands.
Sale or return: Sale
or Return is the system used by magazine and newspaper distributors with
newsstands. Any magazines which are not sold, go back to the distributor and that doesn't affect the retailer because they don't have to pay for the lack of magazines sold. On the other hand, left over magazines cause a dent in the publisher and distributors revenue, because they lose money.
Freemiums- Direct Distribution: Freemiums are magazines/newspapers that are handed out for free, usually at newsstands; an example of a freemium is The Metro. The way in which freemiums make their money, is due to the amount of advertisements within the magazine which result in revenue as the advertisers pay a lot of money to the publishers for their product to be advertised in a magazine/newspaper - out of the amount of people who take freemiums, a majority of them are going to end up buying something from the adverts, which results in revenue for the advertisers.
Subscription- postal / electronic: Regular readers of magazines may want to subscribe to a magazine in order to constantly be up to date with the new magazines coming out- usually the price for subscribed readers is discounted and it's in favour of the reader as they save money and don't have to go out to buy a magazine. Electronic subscriptions work in a similar way, except that the magazine will get sent to the readers inbox, kindle etc.
